How To Wear A Veil With Your Hair Down

Found your perfect veil but worried about it slipping out of your chosen hair style? Don't worry there are a few tricks to help keep your veil in place.

Firstly most combs are curved metal with loops to help you secure the veil to your head. The curve should follow the shape of your head when you insert the veil. 

Most veils will stay in up dos pretty well but if you plan on wearing your hair down there are four options that work particularly well:

• Back comb- lift the section of hair where you would like to wear the veil and back comb the section underneath. Drop the top layer back over the backcombed section and smooth the hair over the top. Fix the veil into the hair using two bobby pins through the loops for extra security.
• Pin curls- create two pin curls where you would like to secure the veil- to do this grab a finger section of hair and twist it into a curl, fasten it into place with a bobby pin. Once the pin curls are in place fix the veil into the pin curls.
• Bobby pins- lift the top layer of hair and just below where you want the hair comb to sit secure two bobby pins in an x shape. Drop the top layer of hair and fix the comb of the veil in the x shape. You may need more than two pins if your hair is very thick or super silky! 
• Pony tail- take two sections of hair on either side of where you would like to wear the veil and create a mini ponytail that you secure with a mini elastic band. Insert your veil into the ponytail.
• Mini pony tails (good for short hair)- lift the top layer of hair and in the section below secure tiny ponytails with mini elastic bands. Drop the top layer of hair back down and secure the comb into the hidden ponytails.

It is always a good idea to use bobby pins that match your hair colour and test out your planned method before the big day to make sure it works with your hair and feels comfortable!

Finally for added security and for a pretty finishing touch you can pin a vine over your veil comb as below.

Every girl dreams of the day her boyfriend gets down on one knee and presents her with a buying a beautiful engagement ring, but how can he be sure he’s got it right? Many brides-to-be have very fixed ideas on the style of engagement ring they’d like so her man needs to do his homework before he starts shopping.

Here are seven engagement ring tips for men on choosing a ring she’ll love. Ladies you can always print this off and leave it lying around as a subtle hint for your future fiance.

1. Check her existing jewellery to see the colour and type of metal she usually wears. Most women have a strong preference for gold or silver, very few wear both equally. Make sure that the ring you choose matches her main preference. If she really does wear both colours you could consider a two tone ring.
2. If possible try to get a ring in the right size. This is relatively easy if your girlfriend usually wears rings on her middle or ring finger. Perhaps you can sneakily borrow a ring and take it shopping with you. Otherwise you could make an imprint of it in some plasticine or make a paper ring of the same size. Rings can always be altered slightly, but you want it to fit as closely as possible.
3. Take a look at the clothes she wears and get an idea of her style and fashion sense. Are her clothes ultra modern and constantly changing with the times? Maybe she wears classic pieces with just a few contemporary accessories? Perhaps she loves to team vintage items with modern basics? The ring you choose should reflect her style if it is going to look good with her wardrobe.
4. Consider her size and shape when you choose the ring. Is she very slim or does she have a fuller figure? Are her fingers long or short? The jeweller should be able to advise you on the shape and cut that will look best on your girlfriend’s hand if you can describe it well. If possible you could even try to take a photograph of her hand with you.
5. Think about her lifestyle when you pick the setting of the ring. If she does a lot of manual work, has physical contact with people during her job, or takes part in a lot of sporting activities, a diamond with a high setting might not be practical. Choose a channel set diamond for active girlfriends.
6. Put some thought into your girlfriend’s views on colour when you are deciding on the type of stone to use. If she dyes her hair a different shade every week, and has painted her home every colour of the rainbow, you might want to consider one of the coloured stones that are currently in vogue. Birthstones are usually a good choice, or coloured diamonds are very fashionable if a little pricey. A good tip for making sure the colour you choose doesn’t clash with her wardrobe is to think about the colour of her eyes. If your lady seems to prefer neutral muted colours, a classic white diamond is the best choice for you.
7. The final and most important tip on choosing an engagement ring is finding out whether she actually wants you to. Perhaps she would much rather pick the ring herself, or maybe she dreams of the two of you designing a bespoke ring together. Wait for a proposal scene in a soppy movie to casually broach the subject and see what her reaction is.

If you’re not sure, you can always buy an inexpensive temporary ring to propose with and go shopping for the real thing together. If you are going to choose the ring yourself be on the lookout for clues. If she suspects a proposal she’ll be dropping hints all over the place.

THE LONDON BRIDAL SHOW: A BRILLIANT EVENT

This year’s London Bridal Show at Olympia saw a big turnout of retailers from across the UK as well as those who travelled from far further afield; it was an event that signposts optimism within the industry

When it comes to indicating the health and well being of a marketplace, attendance at major trade events says a lot and visitor numbers at this year’s London Bridal Show at Olympia suggest that the bridal industry is in great shape right now. The event registered a 10% increase in visitors year on year, with international buyers accounting for 25% of the total, the increase coming most notably from France and Southern Ireland. Retailers were in shopping mode and keen to see the newest collections from some of the big names in the business, while spending time looking at what new and upcoming design houses had to offer.

Said Mark Lesley, showing his eponymous labels as well as his designer bridal collection and occasionwear label Candy Quinn: “It was brilliant. Mark Lesley did wonderfully in terms of increased sales and new customers but Donna Salado was simply outstanding.”

Vikki McCarthy-Wright of Mooshki fame, used this exhibition to launch the stunning new Grace Philips collection agreed. “I cannot believe the reception this new collection has had. It was awesome.”

Europe’s first buying event of the season gave out a clear signal that glamour dressing leads the way, with daringly low backs, mermaid dresses with swishy tails, body-hugging silhouettes, and lace motifs on nude tulle creating a tattoo effect on the skin. Brides who always harboured that dream of being a fairy tale princess on their big day, will almost certainly fall in love with the astonishing array of ballgowns that the key designers are showing for the 2016/2017 season – sumptuous dresses with whittled-down waists and voluminous skirts, some made of layer upon layer of tulle, organza, chiffon and lace, others in simple, elegant fabrics such as Mikado, skilfully sculpted to form the desired fullness.

Alongside the perennial laces there were jewelled and embroidered appliqués introducing a different surface texture, and wonderful jacquards with their own glorious patterning that needed little more than a bead-worked belt to make the right impressions. Long or short – and there were plenty of knee-length and tea-length 50s-style dresses to be seen – it made little difference as long as that message of design confidence and quality make was present and very apparent.

In occasionwear, buyers were wooed and wowed with an amazing rainbow of colours and beautiful fabrics chosen for their drape-appeal, with a fair amount of sparkle to add to the red-carpet experience. Celeb dressing remains key in this sector of the market, where stand out is essential.

One feature of the show was the Monday seminars, run by experts for experts. Retailers attending got to hear first hand about every area of the business and how they could improve their own operation by taking note of what others were doing. Everything from entering awards, to dealing with difficult customers, to closing sales successfully, to working with suppliers was covered and the buyers lapped up the information handed to them.

And of course, a key attraction at The London Bridal Show, as it is at Harrogate in September, is the programme of catwalk performances which saw some breathtakingly fresh collections stepping out and signalling the newest silhouettes for the season ahead. Always playing to a full house, it is this carefully-edited collection of collections that helps retailers pick up on trends early and see first-hand how expert styling introduces the perfect accessories for each look.

DO'S & DONT'S

24 HOUR PRE-WEDDING DO’S AND DON’TS FOR THE BRIDE

So your Wedding day is only 24 hours away… With so many things that you’ve had to do to prepare for your big day, it’s time for your beauty rest! But before that make sure of the following: 

1. Tanning – If you haven’t been going already don’t start now. Spray tanning can be so messy and orange skin wouldn’t be such a good look walking down the aisle. UV Tanning could be dangerous also. Your skin could burn and make for a very uncomfortable evening. If a sun kissed glow is what you’re going for on your wedding day, start your tanning a few weeks in advance or make it simple and go for a pretty shade of bronzer make-up.

2. Hair Dye – So you plan on doing something a little different with your hair color for the Wedding. OK! Just do a trial run at least a month before the big day. If you don’t like the way it comes out you will have plenty of time to change the color without damaging your hair. Also, what style you will have done to your hair. You always want to do a test run for these kinds of things just in case you don’t like something about it. Try different styles to see what you like best. Pick one and stick with it.

3. Make-up – Do you want a natural soft look? Or a bold look that you want to stand out? Are you doing your own make-up or having a make-up artist do it for you? Make a decision on what you would imagine you would look like on your big day. You can find a certain look for make-up in a magazine or a website or just an idea you came up with yourself. Try it out to see how well you like it when it’s actually applied to the face. Whatever you do, don’t wing it on the big day.

4. Jewellery – You never want your accessories to be an afterthought. Order everything at least a month in advance. You’ll want to have enough time to try it on with your wedding dress and make sure you’ve achieved the final look you want. A little tip – If you’re wearing your hair down, Do go big! Dainty earrings tend to get lost in all that hair. Punch up your look with some dramatic statement earrings.

5. Shoes – Shoes are as important as the jewelry you will be wearing on your wedding day. No one wants to see a barefoot bride or even worse a bride wearing flip-flops. So please, keep your shoes on. Make sure your shoes are a perfect fit. Don’t wear a pair of heels with a 5 or 6 inch heel if you are more comfortable in a 2 to 3 inch heel. Break your shoes in way before your wedding day but make sure not to wear them outside. You want your shoes to look brand new on your big day. You could even incorporate your something blue into your shoes. Find a shoe with the entire heel encrusted with blue crystals. You could even bedazzle them on your own. Or just do a blue shoe. The moral of the story is to have fun with your shoes. Make them sparkle, make them comfortable, but please, keep them on.

How to choose your wedding dress

   Do your research. Before you even begin to look around, research gowns. You should always have a bit of knowledge about dresses (and know some of the lingo) before you even set foot into a bridal shop. There are also many bridal magazines that will provide a ton of information, including Brides, Modern Bride, Bridal Guide, Wedding Bells, etc. All of these magazines have websites, where you can find quick information without paying for the magazine.

   Decide on a silhouette. Wedding dresses are made in several different silhouettes. Before considering anything else, know which type of gown will flatter your figure the best. Look at photos of each type. You can browse wedding website message boards and member profiles for photos of real women wearing gowns, rather than relying on professional photos of models wearing them.
   

   • Ball gowns have very full skirts and generally will look beautiful on any body type unless the bride is very short and small. In this case, it may be overwhelming to her small frame. Ball gowns generally either have crinolines built in or a slip you must wear to support the shape of the gown. Be advised that this extra fabric can be heavy and bulky and will require extra care to wear.
   • A-lines usually have a fitted bodice with a skirt that flares gently from the waist to form an "A" shape. They generally work for everyone as well, and are a terrific choice for someone who would like to hide lower body flaws, but does not want a ball gown. A-lines are not as full as ball gowns.
   • Sheaths flatter women with slim, balanced figures. They shouldn't be worn by brides who dislike their figures. This gown will not hide any flaws. If you think your thighs or butt are too big, you'll be miserable in this type of dress. Don't try to pull it off because you found a gown you love in this style. You don't want to risk being uncomfortable or self-conscious on your wedding day, or regretting your choice every time you look at wedding photos.
   • Empire waist gowns have a skirt that falls from just below the breasts. Although usually listed with various waistline types and not always considered a type of silhouette, they are a wonderful choice for a casual, non-formal wedding, or weddings in a tropical climate. They're usually made of light, flowing fabric. They're also excellent for pregnant brides, because they provide extra room in the waist, making them a comfortable choice. They also won't draw as much attention to the belly as a dress with a lower waistline would.

   Envision your wedding. Picture yourself on your wedding day. What are you wearing? What silhouette is your gown? What fabric? Is it embroidered or beaded? What color is it? With so many choices for the dress, it can be overwhelming to look through hundreds or thousands of them. Some brides have said that after looking through racks and racks of dresses, they all begin to look the same. So before you even set out to try them on, envision your wedding day and how your dress looks, and jot down a list of things that describe the dress of your daydreams. You don't have to know all the wedding dress terms. Just write down a description of the gown you're envisioning. Example list: "princessy, satin, some shade of white but not pure white, spaghetti straps."

   Consider the circumstances. A wide variety of factors can affect what makes a particular dress appropriate to the occasion.
   

   • Formal ceremonies usually call for floor length gowns and long trains, while informal ceremonies (especially destination weddings) are a terrific place to wear a shorter gown without a train at all (or a "sweep" train, which just barely brushes the floor). Another example: in some cases, strapless gowns are considered inappropriate for very formal ceremonies.
   • If you're getting married in the winter, you may not want to be a very light, thin fabric unless you plan to be inside the entire time. If you're having a beach wedding in the middle of July, you may not want to wear a heavy fabric like duchess satin.
   • While the most traditional ceremonies will call for a white gown, in many cases, wedding dresses don't have to be pure white anymore! Many women choose dress colors that best complement their skin tones, ranging from diamond white to ivory to champagne to actual colors (pink, blue, red). Pick the color you feel most beautiful in.

   Decide on a budget. When deciding on your budget, you don't need to set a very specific price. Just make it a general range, such as $1000 - $1500, or even $1000 - $2000. You can always break this rule later if you're able to and really want to, but it helps to have a general range. Some experts suggest devoting 10% of the overall wedding budget to the bride's attire. Just be sure to remember that "attire" includes not just the gown itself, but the other stuff: veil, shoes, slip, jewellery, gloves, etc. All of these things are optional, of course (except for the slip, which is usually necessary to keep the dress from going between your legs when you walk). But you'll have to factor in the price of whatever items you decide to wear with your gown.

The show is a summary in essence and spirit of the most studied and careful collection that the designers Yolanda and Cristina Perez, have made up to now.  

Split into two parts, four lines, two for each style. The parade began with the excellence representative style that everyone recognizes the brand, boho-chic and finalize with its most exclusive Haute Couture in bridal collection.

The first part of the show reflects the freshness and youth represented by casual air and bohemian fabrics such as guipure, crochet, combined with fine cotton and linen fibers. They provide a rustic hue but at same time, an especially dedicated each of the collection dresses. As the trendy silhouette tunics, blouses combined bat sleeve skirts made by silk chiffon asymmetrical convex and cuts. Femininity is defined by lace skirts with front pockets and French fabrics like plumeti to detail languid silhouettes. Together, gives a place an exotic and romantic line, result of creativity and originality.

The second part of the show belongs to the highest level and technical design and sewing line. Each dress is elaborated by haute couture ancient techniques and is made ​​by measurement, adapted to each client, one by one, giving relevance to sewing and hand embroidery creating special parts of each dress.
