New Kid On The Block

For many brides one major challenge is finding bridesmaids dresses that flatter real women; dresses that suit tall, short, skinny and curvy. Ava Madison was born out of a vision to create timeless and feminine looks when co-founders Michelle and Natalie realised the lack of choice available to brides and bridesmaids when planning their own weddings. Ava Madison’s 09/10 collection is completely feminine, glamourous and elegant. The range incorporates a modern colour palette from plush neutrals to bold accents and utilises gorgeous fabrics such as silk, satin, chiffon, dupion, georgette and tulle. Ava Madison’s sophisticated and glamorous designs ring true to their philosophy. By uniting their vision with beautiful fabrics, flattering designs and quality local workmanship Ava Madison aims to bring style and elegance to all fashionable bridal parties. To find out more about Ava Madison visit www.avamadison.net.

Ava Madison will be launching their first collection at The Wedding Establishment at Comme in Melbourne on Wed 30th Sept. Wedding Style Guide are thrilled to be the official bridal media partner for this fabulous wedding event. Pretty Papers

Here are a couple of lovely products from Paper Klip Design in Australia via Etsy - I love the colours and combination of patterns used in the heart garland.

Buttery Goodness

Butter yellow is such a popular and pretty palette for brides. Matched with whites and the softest golds it makes for a truly wondrous colour choice. Soft yellow lends itself well to any style of wedding, whether it be black tie, cocktail or even a country picnic party. And... there are so many ways to incorporate this sunny shade. There are some truly gorgeous yellow roses available, along with cakes, drinks and food it's a colour with never ending possibilities.

To view items in more detail just click on the Polyvore

I loved how our real couple Anne Trinidad and Jason Goninan, from issue 10, made the buttery yellow palette their own through the use of flowers, gorgeous bridesmaids dresses, table runners and chair ties. They even gave bottles of Limoncello to guests as favors. How delicious!

Italian Stallion

One of the masters of fine glassware, internationally renowned Luigi Bormioli, is a little excited to announce the launch of their fine bone dinnerware collection - Luigi Bormioli Michelangelo. Inspired by the essence of Italian dining this classic collection would make an ideal wedding gift or addition to any gift registry. The collection is made from superior vitrified fine bone china and each piece is encompassed with a premium glaze formula that is fired at high temperatures to produce a ‘vitrified’ body which seals each piece for strength and resistance to surface scratches. The rimmed plates in the collection feature a reinforced rolled edge that provides excellent resistance against chipping. The Michelangelo 20 piece formal dinner set contains 28cm dinner plates, 24cm rim soup plates, 23cm salad plates, cups and saucers and retails for $249.00AUS. The 16 piece everyday dinner set comprises 28cm dinner plates, 18cm coupe bowls, 23cm salad plates and 350ml coupe mugs and retails for $199.00AUS. And the Celebrity Bride Wore...

Temperley London was the choice for model-turned actress and fashion designer Milla Jovovich when she wed British film director Paul Anderson. The dress, called The Long Muse, is from the Temperley London Bridal Collection with the artwork embellishment inspired by Art Deco and made with metal cording, perspex components and delicate crystals and beads in shades of silver, white and lovely lime. She finished off the look with an intricate woven headpiece.

The back of Jovovich's gown featured a low cut key-hole, which added a dash of sexiness

We've always been a fan of Temperley London's gorgeous pieces so I thought I'd share with you a few of my fave pieces from the current bridal collection. Visit www.temperleylondon.com to have a squiz.

Golden Tootsies

I think if Dorothy was living in 2009 gone would be her red sequined sparklers that became famous in The Wizard of Oz. I'm almost certain she'd choose these shiny gold numbers from Christian Louboutin. The t-bar is ever so classic and makes for a perfect shoe when dancing is on the cards. Will you wear these again? Most certainly. Will you want to take them off? Most certainly not! Visit www.net-a-porter.com to buy online, visit www.christianlouboutin.com to view the entire collection or if you're in Australia call or visit David Jones in Bourke St, Melbourne, Elizabeth St, Sydney, and Queen's Plaza in Brisbane.

Tea Time

I think one of my all time favourite shoots that we have done at WSG is our tea party story from our very first issue. I love the fun mix of Cath Kidston fabrics and the beautiful roses and peonies although I thought the best part of the article were the free downloads! I loved them so much that I used the tea cannister labels to label my teas at home! We have had lots of brides emailing us to say they used this idea for their kitchen teas and also engagement parties.

Happy Birthday To Us

Today, the 21st of August, is our birthday... Wedding Style Guide is three years old! It seems like a few months to me, I've loved every second of it.

We celebrated with Mumm Champagne before heading over to a lovely restaurant for dinner on Wednesday night. We are a lot like sisters now, working very closely together over such a long time. I feel privileged to work with such lovely people, all so talented and generous of their time. So many people go into producing a magazine - photographers, writers, editors, pre-press, printers, distributors – it really is a big team effort. We'd like to extend a heartfelt thanks to everyone who has worked so hard to make WSG the magazine it is today.

Marchesa Magic

One of my favourite labels EVER would have to be Marchesa. Their pieces are simply exquisite and are often seen on the likes of Natalie Portman, Jessica Alba, Olivia Wilde, Nicole Richie and many other hotter than hot celebrities. Most recently Mark Wahlberg's wife, Rhea Durham, wore a completely amazing Marchesa gown at their wedding. Absolutely perfect! I'm loving Marchesa's new Cruise 2009 collection. Such beautifully constructed, grecian inspired pieces with embellishments in the most gorgeous shades of gold. I especially love the lolly coloured pieces. Wouldn't they just make the most perfect bridesmaids dresses? And... I'll promise you this; they will wear them again! Visit www.marchesa.com to view all the collections.

Yummy Mummy

Besides the wedding dress itself the next most important piece of clothing the Mother of the bride/groom will consider will be her own. Mothers have the hard task of dressing for an occasion, especially when many feel they are restricted to what they can and cannot wear. No one likes mutton dressed as lamb! Take a leaf out of my book and opt for a dress that drops to the knee, with or without sleeves. Another thing to consider when choosing your outfit is shoes. Flats are not really appropriate, unless of course a garden or beach wedding is on the cards. With so many labels making fabulous kitten and mid-heeled shoes there really is no excuse. Of course it's of utmost importance to be comfortable so choose wisely and make sure they have been broken in at home prior to the big day. Point number three, and one of the most important points, is to be well aware of the colour scheme of the wedding itself. No one likes a photo with a guest clashing horribly so do consdier the bride and groom when choosing your outfit. A lovely family photo from a wedding will last a lifetime and you don't want to cringe everytime you see it! I've gone over one of my favourite fashion website Net-A-Porter and have chosen a couple of styles that I think would make fabulous choices for a Mother of the bride/groom. They are trendy, knee length, detailed, ruched in all the right places and are pieces you will be able to wear again. Whether you are having something made or buying from a store be sure to make a choice that suits your taste and body shape and most of all makes you feel fabulous. Afterall, a daughter or sons wedding is one of the biggest days of your life!
