The Magic that is Maticevski
Established in 1999, Toni Maticevski has quickly grown into a celebrated, respected and sought after Australian label. His designs are unique, timeless, and haunting; clothes born of emotion for emotional response. His latest collection shown at New York Fashion Week on Thursday 11th February was, quite simply put, a gorgeous array of colours, textures and details. I'm in love with the contrasting coppers, soft blue's and silver's. The use of pleats on the softest silks and organzas add structure to otherwise whimsical and free-flowing gowns. I simply adore the full, layered skirts with cute little cashmere knits. Such a modern twist on a classic look and a look that's oh so suitable for autumn and winter brides. Visit www.mbfashionweek.com to view the show or visit www.tonimaticevski.com for stockist details.

Estee Lauder LOVES Derek Lam
For the first time in the Estée Lauder brand's 64 year history, they embarked on New York Fashion Week, sponsoring the beauty look (makeup & nails) at the Derek Lam Autumn/Winter 2010 runway show. Bold blue eyes, copper lips, matte skin, bare cheeks and neutral nails ruled the catwalk at ‘Capitale’, with Estée Lauder’s new Creative Makeup Director Tom Pecheux testing some new Estee Lauder Pure Color Fall 2010 products backstage to rave reviews. With a vision to compliment Derek Lam’s fashion theme: “The Myth of the West”, Tom Pecheux led a team of 15 makeup artists to create the stunning look on 22 models, while famed manicurist Jin Soon Choi and her team polished their nails with a new Estée Lauder color tested at the show. Although extreme for a wedding day look you can recreate bits of this look such as copper lips or hints of blue on the eyes. Products from this look will be launched in the Estee Lauder Fall collection so keep posted on www.esteelauder.com.au for all the details.

Pretty Pettibone
Los Angeles based designer Claire Pettibone is a master at creating truly feminine and romantic gowns. Specialising in gowns with lace and beading details, she makes truly unique pieces that often have a vintage quality yet modern references. Pettibone states that "A wedding gown has to be the most beautiful dress in a woman's life, make her look and feel amazing, and capture her essence. When I create a dress, it's all about the fabric and the woman, and how these elements are combined to enhance each other". Working exclusively with couture European embroideries and laces she confesses that “so many brides want an intimate and individual feeling for their wedding, and the dress really sets the tone". Pettibone has created gowns for ceremonies in castles, forests, beaches and gardens in addition to the traditional church and hotel ballroom. Not only does she create amazing gowns but she also has a simply exquisite lingerie collection made from the finest laces and silks that would be the perfect addition to a wedding day outfit. Visit www.clairepettibone.com to find out more about this inspiring designer.

Farewell to a Fashion Hero
Anybody who knew and admired the work of the immensely talented British designer Alexander 'Lee' McQueen would have been shocked and saddened to hear of his untimely passing on 11 February. The 40 year old, in his time as a designer, had such a moving and influential impact on the fashion industry and will always be remembered for his unique style, amazing attention to detail and his willingness to push the boundaries. We've been lucky enough to have pictures of his collections grace the pages of Wedding Style Guide and I've blogged about his collections many times in the past. His recent spring/summer 2010 collection Plato's Atlantis was hailed as his best yet and will no doubt remain the benchmark for designers creativity for years to come. Visit www.alexandermcqueen.com to view his extrodinary body of work.

Pretty & Glamorous
Pale pink and silver make such a pretty colour palette for any wedding. Often this colour palette is well suited to more formal affairs, however it could easily be adapted to suit a cocktail or at home party. There is an abundance of flowers available in soft pinks and almost everything these days comes in silver so you shouldn't have any trouble sourcing products to fit within your theme. I thought our Style Guide stationery Flora Aura and Crystalline fitted perfectly with my Polyvore! These pieces can be purchased from our online shop. Don't forget the guys either. A pale pink tie, soft silver/grey suit or a pale pink shirt can look quite dashing. Pink isn't just for the ladies!

Mad About Marchesa
I know I've said it before but if I could have a wedding gown designed by any designer it would be Marchesa. The British born duo of Keren and Georgina create the most romantic, aspirational and feminine pieces. There's nothing run-of-the-mill about these designs - they all have an edge. My love this week is this silk-organza blush tone gown. White doesn't appeal to every bride so this would make a gorgeous choice. There's something about ruffles and tiers that gets my heart racing! Visit www.marchesa.com to find our more about this amazing label or visit www.net-a-porter.com to shop online.

Haute Couture spring/summer 2010 #3
Chanel is a label that always takes luxury that little step further with the use of exquisite fabrics, out of this world embellishments and gorgeous accessories. I adore the oversized bows in the hair! The soft yellow silk, dark jewels and use of layered tulle is oh so romantic! Secretely I'm digging the gold suit - crazy but super eye catching! Alexis Mabille mixed colours, even going for two-tone hair. Sheer fabrics were a key focus of her collection and are often very popular with brides. The sequined dress with sheer sleves oozed sexiness!
Textured fabrics, layering and bold colours seem to have been the key trends from the spring/summer 2010 Haute Couture shows. Yellows, purples, soft blues and neutrals were the most popular colours and are all colours that will translate very well to your spring/summer 2011/12 wardrobes. I know it seems ridiculous to be thinking about next summer when we haven't even escaped this one but knowledge is power, after all!
