Choo's the Best
There's no denying that every girl dreams of having an amazing pair of shoes for her wedding and, if you're like me, you'll have dreamed of sporting the latest from the most famous man in shoes, Jimmy Choo. Finally Choo has added some seriously gorgeous wedding shoes to his collection that are sure to make girls hyperventilate and, in some cases, beg! The good thing too is that they come in a variety of heel heights which means those of us not brave enough to go a towering stiletto will feel just as glam in something slightly shorter. Bravo! Visit www.jimmychoo.com to browse the collection or call the Sydney store on 02 8666 0606.

Wedding of the Year?
I think it was safe to say that many people had an opinion when swimsuit model and host of Project Runway Australia, Kristy Hinze, announced her engagement to then 64 year old Netscape founder and billionaire, Jim Clark. They finally tied the knot this week in what many are calling the wedding of the year. The beach ceremony was part of a four-day affair that took place on Clark's $100 million yacht Athena, Virgin founder Sir Richard Branson's private Necker Island and Virgin Gorda Island. Hinze wore a gorgeous Oscar de la Renta gown and was attended by seven bridesmaids, including her sister Lauren Petroff. Carrying a bunch of green arum lilies known as Green Goddess Hinze and Clarke exchanged vows in front of close family and friends, incl. Sir Richard Branson himself. The Oscar de la Renta gown Hinze wore is available from Helen Rodrigues.

Lady In Red
There is nothing more showstopping than an amazing red dress with killer heels and a fancy bag. Red is one of the those colours that can either look totally fabulous or totally trashy. It's important to not overdo the red factor when choosing this as a colour for your engagement party, wedding or for your bridesmaids. It's often just the dress, bag or shoes in red that will gather the most attention. There are so many fabulous ways you can add this vibrant, happy colour to your wedding and obviously clothing and flowers would be the most obvious choice. We put red to good use in our Breakfast Club story in issue 4 and showed some great ways to incorporate the colour of love into your big day.

The Masked Crusader
I am totally loving the Japanese site Billet - what I wouldn't do for these beautiful masking tapes. What a wonderful way to embellish a stationery suite.

Now, I just have to learn how to read Japanese and then I can order something!

Punchy Polka Dots
As we milk the last few weeks of summer dry I've decided, at the last minute, to embrace the polka dot. At the end of Feb I bought a cute black frilled cami with white polka dots by Birds of a Feather and couldn't believe how many comments I received. At first I thought it was a little 'girly' for my liking but it's grown on me. I've now decided to take my current adoration of polka dots to Polyvore and have created a set that I think will appeal to anyone wanting to incorporate polka dots into their wedding, hens day or engagement party. Any avid reader of Style Guide will notice our amazingly cute stationery from our Round About story in issue 4, which can be purchased from the Style Guide Online Store, as well as the cute bouquet of pom pom chrysanthemums. Polka dots can easily and stylishly be incorporated into a wedding through clothing, stationery, linen and even the cake. Go get dotty!

Flower Power
Look at these adorable paper flower pins from Linda & Harriett. Hand made to order from beautiful patterned papers, sewn together and cinched with a sweet little button. They would make a lovely embellishment to bridal party outfits.

Redesigned Flower Pin $24.00US each + postage

They remind me of the flowers we made for our Playful Shades story in Issue 8.

Check out our free download template with instructions on how to make these pretty little blooms.

Every Face Tells A Story
I used to lecture in typography at Uni - that is, the study of type. It's something that I'm passionate about–a gorgeous typeface can send me into a spin. Have you ever considered how each typeface has a personality all to itself - it doesn't take much training to know what certain faces are saying...

Splendid - formal and elegant

Mrs Eaves - classic and understated

Inspiration - relaxed and inviting

Bayer Sans - contemporary and bold

Therefore, the typeface you choose for your wedding stationery is really important as it will instantly convey a message. It will let your guests know, at a glance, the style and level of formality planned for the big day.

Take a moment to consider what typeface speaks best for you. There are countless websites devoted entirely to fonts - try My Fonts, P22, Emigre or Archive Type - all incredible sources of inspiration (well, I think so anyway!).

The lovely girls at Belathee Photography have let us know they have updated their website. Be prepared to spend hours on their site, admiring the wonderful photographs taken at weddings held all around the world.

We recently featured Vané (from Brooklyn Bride) and her husband Chad's wedding in Issue 9 which was shot by Belathee - the photographs are amazing.

The Right Note
Nicole from Kireina Paper contacted us to let us know about their lovely range of stationery. There are beautifully coordinated invitations, thank you cards and save the date cards, not to mention the cute little cupcake flags that would tie the theme together perfectly–there are countless products to consider. They ship to Australia and commit an amazing 30% of profits to charity, so do have a look too.

My favourites are the Japanese-inspired blossom patterns.

Sweet Burgers

I found these cute cupcake burgers on the TasteSpotting site and thought that they would work really well with our roll up, roll up story featured in Issue 9 of the magazine. They are made with vanilla and chocolate cupcakes for the bun and burger, shredded coconut dyed with green food colouring for lettuce and yellow frosting and red frosting for the cheese and the sauce!

Shots from our roll up, roll up story

Be sure to check out our free stationery that goes with this story.

Paris Pops
Ready-to-wear Autumn/Winter 2009/10

My favourite city in the world turned up the heat when some of the best designers showcased their autumn/winter 09/10 ready-to-wear collections. Glamour evening dresses made a triumphant return as mini's (thankfully) took the back seat. Colour was still a popular choice with greens, reds, pinks, blues and browns heading the colour charge. My favourite shows would have to have been Victor & Rolph, John Galliano and Antonio Berardi. The cut of his dresses were exquisite and demonstrated exactly how the female form should be flaunted. Galliano threw a theatre extravaganza with amazing headpieces and embellishments while Victor & Rolph showed why sequins are making a massive comback. All hail sparkle!
