Pleasure in Paper

Oooo, look what I found – a pretty paper mobile by Lokta in the US, USD $30. It does say they only ship to the US but surely they couldn't resist a charming bride all the way from Australia if you were to ask them nicely? It would make a fantastic decoration if you fancied our Paper and Lace story from Issue 15.

It may prove just the incentive to enter our fabulous competition where you can win lots of special styling pieces to replicate this theme. You've got to be in it to win it, but hurry - entries close 7th September 2010!

Let's Celebrate!

There's no denying that celebrating a dear friends wedding is fabulous fun. One of my old school friends, Shvonne, married the lovely Luke on the 1st May and I would be lying if I said it wasn't a fabulous day. Their reception was held at Tapestry Winery in the wine region of McLaren Vale, South Australia. I should make sure I mention the food was simply delicious and was, of course, matched with yummy wines from the winery itself. When asked by Shvonne which photographer I'd recommend I didn't hesitate to suggest WSG's dear friend and fashion photographer Claudio Raschella. His photos were beautiful, candid and really did capture the love and fun filled day perfectly. Congratulations Von & Luke!!

Shvonne's gorgeous dress was from Rapsimo while her cuter than cute shoes were from Alan Pinkus

A simply glowing bride!

The very handsome groom Luke

One of the most delicious wedding cakes I've ever tasted. The three tiered creation was courtesy of Sugar & Spice Cakes

The bridal party from L-R - James, Benjamin, Kieran, Heath, Luke, Shvonne, Samantha, Chantal, Danielle and Suzannah. The bridesmaids dresses were by Mai Loui designer Anna Williamson and the suits were from Youthworks

To think we've all grown up together and now we're celebrating weddings is pretty mind blowing. These are the simply gorgeous girls I was lucky enough to go to school with, some of whom I've known since I was five years old! (I'm in the hot pink!)

Behind the Scenes Fashion - Winter

Earlier in the year we shot the fashion story that's in the current issue. The palette is warm and welcoming, just right for the cold winter days we're experiencing here. As usual, our photographer Claudio Raschella, kept the mood light while Emilie and Annabelle oversaw each shot. The fashion shoot involves a lot of planning and preparation to bring it to fruition. Emilie spends a lot of time coordinating dresses with jewellery, shoes, hats and gloves from all over the country and even overseas. Annabelle and I plan the backgrounds and mood of the shoot and watch over everything to make sure it's running smoothly and on time.

Chris Geracitano makes a start on hair and makeup for our model Emma. She was so naturally beautiful, it didn't take much to get her ready for the camera. Emilie fixes the drop on the Culture Bridal Couture gown to ensure it is hanging correctly with gloves from the Adelaide Antique Market.

Emilie watches as Claude calls the shots – literally! One of the stunning pieces of jewellery loaned to us for the day from Lisa Ho.

Claude directs our model to achieve the shot he has in mind in a Rachel Gilbert gown and Prismera necklace. Annabelle is never far away, overseeing each shot with a smile on her face.

Claude reviews the pics as they load to his laptop – you can see the concentration on his face – he is a perfectionist. The model listens to Claude's directions before getting ready for the next shot in a skirt Emilie designed with talented designer Liva Loren, Ender Legard bustier from Net-A-Porter and beautiful Kailis pearl earrings and necklace.

Garden Delight

It must be the cold winter weather today, but right now I am loving all the relaxed and 'loved up' weddings coming our way...there is something really delightful about a wedding where the most beautiful detail of the day is the couples' genuine happiness. I think I am drawn to these relaxed weddings now because of the years I had of setting up lavish weddings with all the trimmings. It's a bit like the way I just love a bundle of anemones picked from my garden in an old jar, but I can't stand 'OTT' arranged flowers in my house! The very talented photographer Lucy Leonardi sent me a few pics from Kate and Daniel's garden wedding with some fantastic DIY ideas. I love Lucy's style and sense of fun when she shoots weddings - I am sure this will bring a little sunshine to your day as it did to mine.

Stunning Quilling

I absolutely love this beautiful marriage certificate found via Design*Sponge. The calligraphy is by Carole Foster and the stunning quilling was made by Ann Martin. It's certainly worthy of a beautiful frame to cherish for ever.
