Dessert Tables Part 1

I think we have mentioned quite a few times on this blog and in our magazine here that we are big fans of Amy Atlas. She has updated her blog with some new pictures of a dessert table made for a client in the Hamptons. Once again the detail Amy has gone to is amazing, you just can't fault her work, it's absolute perfection!

Biscuit Envy
Elizabeth Syer, our London Correspondent, just sent through a link to this gorgeous website, Pretty Tasty in the UK. These aniseed biscuits are what caught my eye - so exquisite in their detail. They suggest having them made with holes so that they can be hung as ornaments. What a lovely idea.

The Marvelous Mariana
Inspired by the exotic, geometric design elements of the Art Deco era, the latest Mariana Hardwick collection, Bride Nouveau, marks a new direction for the Australian bridal designer. The Bride Nouveau collection has a focus on creating a new style of gown to cater for the modern bride. Using luxurious materials, in a warm colour palate, the collection has a focus on silhouette and fabrication, using the different draping techniques that made this period so well known. Delicate French lace, beaded trimming, ruched silk georgette and layered silk tulle adds luxury and detail, something that Mariana Hardwick is well renowned for. To view the Bride Nouveau collection visit www.marianahardwick.com.au.

Donna Does Dreamy
Annabelle and I visited the new(ish) Donna Hay General Store (unfortunately no website for the shop as such) when we were in Sydney last week. What a lovely job she's done on the building - great building!

The shop is brimming with stylish little things - the type of things you desperately want, but don't really need. There are homewares, body products, babywear and of course kitchenware. Sweet coloured, paper cups for table displays, great selection of cupcake wrappers (my favourite are the parchment) and stylish taper candles - the type I dream of using for every celebration.

These sweet candles are stocked in store

And to top it off, you can buy yummy-looking cupcakes and macaroons to go (we resisted but only because we had appointments to keep!).

A lovely shop to visit if you are in Woollahra - 40 Holdsworth Street to be precise.

Wearing a Marchesa gown with silver embroidery, Rhea look absolutely gorgeous. She accessorised with a diamond bracelet by celebrity jeweller Neil Lane. I'm sure more detailed shots will pop up in the next few days so keep posted!

Postscript...
Further to my recent post about the lovely monogram book, I thought I'd show you the reason I knew this book was meant to be mine. On the first page I opened, I saw this one…

I knew it was a sign I had to take this book home. This is the only monogram I have removed from the book, but I've marked the spot from where it came so it can easily be replaced.

I've temporarily put it inside a beautiful 1800s frame I bought at the Portobello Markets in London. I am undecided about the best way to mount it - but I'm sure it will come to me. I love the convex glass and delicate details around the metal rim of the frame and think it is a fitting home for this lovely letterpressed insignia.

Top Cat
I was watching a bit of the US version of "So You Think You Can Dance" on Friday night and absolutely loved Cat Deeley's Diane Von Furstenberg hot pink dress. It was such a simple dress but paired with a studded Temperley belt and matching shoes with Accessorize earings it looked fab. Cat doesn't use a stylist and usually buys most of her clothes from a range of high street, designer and vintage shops, although she did admit that her friends at burberry send her outfits from time to time!

I thought the dresses below would be great inspiration for potential bridesmaid outfits.
