Summer Loving
It has certainly been pretty cold down here in Adelaide, so to warm myself up I thought I would post on some beautiful beach honeymoon destinations! Your honeymoon is probably one of the only times in your life where you can justify spending a large amount of money on a luxury holiday. These two are a couple of my faves from the six senses group of resorts. If your budget doesn't stretch to the Soneva resorts then why not do what I did and stay at one of their cheaper (but still gorgeous) Evason resorts.

Melangerie Magic
The lovely Elana from Melangerie Inc in New York kindly emailed me some pics of the amazing work she's been doing for her hip clients across the US. Based in Brooklyn, Melangerie Inc are the top of the ladder when it comes to curating, creating and presenting custom gifts, memorabilia and event related bits and pieces. The pics I've featured below are from a recent early summer wedding held in the trendy Hamptons. How divine! To find out more about Melangerie Inc's absolutely incredible work visit www.melangerienyc.com.

A gorgeous gift bag of beach-day essentials packaged for guests in a RuMe reusable tote containing a custom designed guide to the wedding weekend filled with important info about wedding events, places to eat and hang out, as well as directions and a hand-drawn map of the area. Guests also received snacks from local producers incl. Hampton Popcorn Company, Tate's Cookies and NY Spring Water.

The hand drawn, letter pressed guide to the Hamptons, poppped in the goodie bags for guests to enjoy. Such a fab idea!

The couple who commisioned the gifts also gave guests travel backgammon sets, one of their fave beach pastimes

Paper Petals
These very crafty paper blooms from Millalove are just fantastic. Made as cupcake toppers, they could be used en masse to decorate a wedding cake or placed into vintage bottles for sweet table decorations. They start from $18USD for 12 and there are many from which to choose.

Sweetie Pea
Oh I love this time of year! The flower markets are just starting to bud with all my favourites blooms. I have a penchant for the old fashioned favourites - the flowers that are just so pretty all on there own. I just adore sweet peas - at first glance they are so delicate with their perfectly formed ruffles, they are however surprisingly robust, and hold their form and freshness remarkably well even out of water - the perfect bridal bouquet solution. Thinking of them I can't help but fondly remember the little sweet pea plantation I shared with my grandfather, each year we would sow the seeds together, and like magic the most amazing display would appear after a little TLC. In fact that would have been where my passion for flowers was first enjoyed.

Paris Packs a Punch #2
Paris Haute Couture Autumn/Winter 09/10

I think, without a doubt, my favourite show from this season was Elie Saab. If you're going to get wedding dress inspiration from any show it's going to be this one. Romantic, feminine, detailed but still incredibly sexy, Elie Saab really is one of the masters in the bridal world. If you're after Elie Saab in Australia visit www.samanthawynne.com.au. Chanel delivered their usual array of creams, neutrals and whites mixed with blacks and hot pinks. Sheer, beaded fabrics along with an absolutely gorgeous mini wedding dress, with an equally gorgeous suit, proved why Chanel is one of the biggest names in couture. I thought Givenchy's show was a standout. Again sheer fabrics seemed to be the hot ticket, together with intensly intricate beading, embroidery and sharp tailoring made the collection truly mesmerising. I absolutely loved the two-tone gown. I am almost positive this will end up on a celebrity like Angelina Jolie at a fabulous awards ceremony throught the year. Stay tuned for round up #3 later in the week.

Shining Bright
These nifty little candles would make a fabulous and fun addition to a wedding setting. Available from De De Ce Plus, they are currently on sale at $49.50 for a set of 2. Super range of colours too - something to suit any colour theme.

Be sure to check with your venue if they allow naked flame candles - many historic venues don't!

Runaway Success
A quick thank you to the Australian Graphic Design Association (AGDA) who kindly wrote an article about Wedding Style Guide in their national newsletter that was sent out to its thousands of members. As a long time member of AGDA and a passionate designer, it is humbling to be honoured in this way by a professional body of designers who have recognised the importance we place on the design of our magazine.

Paris Packs a Punch
Paris Haute Couture Autumn/Winter 09/10

The biggest spectacle in fashion is of course the Paris Haute Couture shows. In the lead up to the fashionable fanfare many wondered whether Christian Lacroix would still be showing his collection due to the much publicised financial state of the mega-brand. He showed his critics a polished collection that wasn't over the top, a collection, that in this day in age, is relatively cool, calm and collected for Haute Couture. Christian Dior was, of course, over the top with the most divine corsetry and billowing, structured skirts. Underware as outware has never looked more refined. The newest member to the exclusive couture club, Alexis Mabille, was big on bows and showed relatively simple pieces that were made to perfection. In this case less was way more. As always Armani Prive showed just how incredibly sexy slinky, embellished gowns can be. Royal blue seemed to be the popular choice for Mr Armani and quite a fitting alternative to black, which made an appearance at every show. It seems that maybe black was the safest choice considering our current economic climate? I'll review the remaining shows throughout the week so keep posted.
