Invite with Style

It’s the little details that count, and when you are planning your wedding it’s these details that make your day that much more special. One of the very first tastes of what is to come for your guests is the invite. That pristine white envelope, waiting in their post box, the perfect precursor to what awaits. It’s instantly exciting to receive. Careful not to rip the keepsake, the envelope is opened and you instantly know that what you are viewing is just the tip of something magical. Anna Matjasec of Invite with Style appreciates the magnitude of the occasion and has come up with a new range of contemporary and stylish wedding invites designed with the environment in mind. Anna, a graphic designer for over 10 years, knows that her tiny part in your small day does not sit in isolation and appreciates that your invites will open the door to the theme, style and mood that you want to portray on your special day. Cut and paste does not cut it, all wedding invites are fully customizable. As it should be. It’s your day. Visit Invite With Style’s new web site at www.invitewithstyle.com.au to view more of Anna’s bespoke work or to make contact. Find below just a snippet of some of our favourtie pieces.

From Paris with Love

Straigt from my inbox to you, a sneak peek from last night's Collette Dinnigan show in Paris. The autumn/winter 2011 show, titled Portrait of a Woman, "encapsulates the mystique of a woman. Bold colours and graphic lines trace the mystique of an ingenious artist - vibrantly feminine, innately talented, ultimately creative". With highly textured fabrics and rich silhouettes the collection features structured shapes and sumptuous tailoring that harks back to the athletic luxe of the true Argentinian equestrian - a tradition re-imagined through lace jodpurs and metallic jacquard bustle back skrits. Belle blossom, Italian lace brocade, noir French lace, Venetian wool suiting, Rococo embroidered organza and forest fur - an interfusion of texture and tradition, light and shade. Visit www.collettedinnigan.com.au for further details.

How Succulent!

If you're after a unique floral idea for your wedding it's worth considering Succulents. They're becoming a big trend now, offering interest and intrigue to bouquets, centrepieces and buttonholes. If flowers on their own aren't your thing you'll be amazed at how they are transformed with an array of gorgeously green Succlents. Be sure to ask your florist for their advice and suggestions, afterall there are an abundance of types available. I loved this wedding I found on Style Me Pretty. The Succlents as a centrepiece add so much interest and give the celebration a completely different feel. The colour of the bouquet is divine!

Cake That!

It's 4pm and I'm feeling like a piece of cake. A piece of this cake to be exact. Y.U.M! If you're leaning towards a desert buffett for your wedding a selection of delectable cakes such as this Peach Cake with Burnt Sugar Shards would go down an absolute treat. Even though you may get a good serving of guilt after eating a piece (or two) of this cake it would be well worth it! This gorgeous picture is courtesy of www.kissthegroom.com.

Longing For Lanvin

I'm a sucker for a gorgeous shoe box. I keep all my shoes in their boxes, free of dust and sticky fingers. I always have done and always will do, regardless of the space they seem to consume. These Lanvin embellished satin sandals are amazingly beautiful. Bows, mother-of-pearl, pailette and glass crystals couldn't go together any better. And the shoe box? Eeeeek! I would be very chuffed to have that sitting on the top of my ever increasing pile. The most perfect wedding day shoes don't you think? Available for £557 online at www.net-a-porter.com.

Academy Awards 2011

This years Academy Awards were, as the fashion commentators suggested, the year of bold colours, brave choices and standout pieces. Previous years have seen a more subtle approach to Oscar dressing however that idea was abandoned by many stars who chose beading, lace and solid colours for maximum impact. Cate Blanchett was my choice for best dressed. Her Givency Haute Couture gown, straight of the Paris runway, was perfect and exactly the kind of unique creation you'd expect her to choose. The colour looked simply divine against her fair skin and short blonde bob. Mila Kunis also opted for a lilac shade gown by Oscar favourite Elie Saab. The gown, featuring lace inserts and a train was again straight off the couture runway. Australia's own Jackie Weaver chose a custom made Collette Dinnigan gown. The heavily beaded bodice and full skirt was perfect for the first-time nominee. I also loved the simplicity of Michelle Williams Chanel Haute Couture gown. Never one to go overboard, the gown oozed sophistication and fitted her like a glove. If you'd like to see more of the spectacular gowns that made the red carpet this year visit www.harpersbazaar.com.au.
