Fitting Furniture

Great news, Whiteport, who are known for their gorgeous homewares, have just released a beautiful range of furniture. Classic French styling coupled with understated fabrics make a very versatile range. The best part? Whiteport sport a wedding registry so you can really go wild imagining the possibilities.

Avignon Linen Collection ottoman AUD$525.95.

Avignon Linen Collection armchair AUD$495 and 3 seater sofa AUD$1,495.

And if you do have a minute, have a look in the latest issue of Australia's great Real Living magazine - there is a fantastic story about Jennifer from Whiteport, with sticky-beak pics of her lovely home.

Rally the Girls - SATC 2 is nearly here!

I have a confession to make. I am completely and utterly excited about the release of Sex and the City 2. OMG! I think I've already watched the trailer at least 3 times. For many women SATC is the ultimate ladies night, myself included. The hours spent watching the series on DVD is seriously begining to stack up so another installment is just what the doctor ordered. If you so happen to be having, or planning for that matter, a hen's or girls night for early June consider cosmopolitans, your favourite pair of heels, your most chic bunch of friends and head to the movies. Many cinemas and organisations host preview nights to raise money for a variety of different charities so do your bit. To view the trailer visit www.sexandthecitymovie.com. I must also confess I'm super duper excited to hear Australian artist Ricky-Lee's song Can't Touch It featuring loud and clear in the trailer. I couldn't have thought of a more suitable theme song if I tried. SATC 2 will be released Australia wide on the 3rd June. Double click on the below image to view the trailer!

Italian Splendour

I so love the work of Italian designer Luisa Beccaria - such a beautiful palette of colours. Based in Milan, she sells worldwide - but alas not in Australia (we hope to join the rest of the civilised world soon!) But, despair not – inspiration abounds on the website.

Wire Works

Look at these nifty wire works from Debeaux Souvenirs in France. They would make really interesting talking points for reception decoration, especially if one spelt out the bride and groom's names. Luckily for us they ship worldwide via Etsy.

This one would be an ideal spot for guests to drop a handwritten note to the couple.

They range in price from USD $36 to $110 plus shipping.

Wonderful Wedgwood

Earlier in the year I blogged about one of my favourite sources of inspiration - French Style and Decoration. Well recently I purchased the sister book English Style and Decoration and it is equally as interesting.

English Style and Decoration by Stafford Cliff, from $19.51 plus shipping at Amazon.

I was thrilled to find these early illustrations from Wedgwood - I think they are incredibly beautiful especially with the delicate handwritten notes indicating colour choices and design decisions. Derived from the Italian 'majolica' pattern of the sixteenth century, these two designs are taken from Wedgwood's archives from the 1850s and 1860s. Such fine examples of beauty in nature.

At Wedding Style Guide we are lucky to enjoy a wonderful relationship with Wedgwood - we often use their products in our magazine and they have been a valued advertiser for some time now. With a wealth of history that includes beautiful designs like these, no doubt they will continue to remain as popular as ever.

Yay J!

Great news - wonderful in fact - my all-time favourite brand J Crew is soon to be available to British shoppers through net-a-porter.com. So why does that make me so happy I hear you ask ...they ship to Australia! They have an amazing range of beautiful wedding gowns, maid's dresses and adorable flowergirl/ring bearer outfits, not to mention the divine jewellery and accessories.

Shipping costs will be reasonably high so you'll have to figure that into your final tally but with exchange rates as good as they are at the moment, it can't happen soon enough for me. To learn more read The Guardian article here.

Be an Easter Entertainer

One of the lovely stories we have in the latest issue is our Easter Entertainer story - a guide to help newlyweds plan the perfect party. The photographs were taken by Shona Henderson - her unique, vintage style lends itself to this pretty garden setting.

If you're planning a bit of an Easter gathering, do have a look at our free downloadable stationery - there are invitations and tags to make any setting complete.

Daily Fix

I'm excited today to learn there is a new Australian accessories label hitting our shelves. Filling the gap where shoes are either fashion forward but un-wearable, or comfortable but lack style, Stillier have launched its premier Classic collection this winter, drawing inspiration from old world glamour and 50s movie stars. The Classic palette features neutral tones including dove greys, nudes and blushes, brightened up by injections of grape, cerise and terracotta. Complimenting these winter hues are a selection of signature I Heart peep toes, quilted pumps and embellished flats. Using carefully hand-picked materials including calf leathers, suedes and exclusive pony skins, each shoe is meticulously finished with extraordinary attention to detail. The colours are simply gorgeous and would make such sweet wedding shoes for you and your maids. Visit www.stillier.com.au to view the collection and find out more about this new and exciting Australian label.

Note It

If manners are your thing (if not they should be!) then you'll know it's of utmost importance to send thank you cards to all guests who attend your wedding. You're not just thanking them for the lovely gifts they've given you but you're also thanking them for making the time, whether they travelled long distances or not, to be there to celebrate your special day. Afterall, a wedding would not be a wedding without your friends and family. It's also important to remember thank you notes don't have to be long winded, nor do they have to be expensive. Take for example these cute little cards that turned up on my desk last week. A pack of 10 with matching envelopes will only set you back $12.95, with the matching pen a super affordable $4.95. In regards to note cards it's the thought that counts so don't forget. I always remember if I haven't received a thank you card and I'll always be thankful when I do. The hiPP note cards are available in a variety of colours from Myer and selected independant retailers nationally. Visit www.hiPP.com.au for more details.

Napkin Numbers

These napkins are definitely a unique way to display your table numbers and could double as a favour for your guests. I found them whilst over at the decor8 blog. They are by Heather Lins Home and are really eye catching. You can buy them in numbers 1-10 or 1-6 and start from $120USD.

Napkins are a great way to add colour and/or design to your table. In Issue 14 of WSG we had some white napkins screen printed by Louli for our industrial inspired styling shoot which made for a fabulous favour that guests could take home and use or even frame! These designs are free to download from our website.

Glisten to Me

Pretty sparkly sandals are the must-have addition to any gorgeous gown. You may think your tootsies won't be seen under a long dress but when all eyes are on you for a whole day almost everyone (the girls at least) will pay attention to what you have on your feet. Shoe envy will be in order if you choose to adorn your feet with a pair of embellished heels. Forget a little brooch or a few scattered crystals, go the whole hog with encrusted heels like the Christian Louboutin and Jimmy Choo options below. You'll never want to take them off! Buy online at www.net-a-porter.com or visit www.christianlouboutin.com or www.jimmychoo.com to view the collections.
