Silverama

If a white or ivory gown isn't your thing and you're after something a little sexy and sophisticated then this Oscar de la Renta gown has your name all over it! The hammered silk-crepe skirt with fishtail train would give such an elegant silhouette. Although sold out on Net-A-Porter there is a chance they'll get more so get in touch with them at www.net-a-porter.com if you'd like to make an enquiry.

Necklace Heaven

It's true, I am in love, in love with Elva Fields. I've blogged before and no doubt I'll blog again. Her pieces... well, I'm lost for words. If jewellery is your thing then one of her beautiful pieces would make a simply perfect accent to your look. I can imagine choosing the gown to go with the necklace rather than choosing the necklace to go with the gown. Each handmade piece features vintage elements wich makes them eco-friendly and super unique. They're truly pieces of art. Many of the pieces are one off and over 40 new pieces have been popped on her website for summer as of today so if you don't want to miss out get in quick. Once they're gone they're gone. Visit shop.elvafields.com for range details.

Big Shoes to Fill

For those who have large feet I can imagine it's a rather challenging task trying to find shoes that actually fit. Since 2007 Lauren Whiting, owner of Adelaide's At Last Shoes, has been importing Italian shoes made specifically for larger feet. Boots, flats and heels are all on the menu, ranging in sizes from 41-46 (roughly 10-14.5). Lauren's also recently created Bless My Soul, a label of killer heels and classic flats catering for sizes 10-13. These ranges all include bridal shoes and can be purchased online. Ladies, let out sigh of relief!!! Visit www.atlastshoes.com.au and snap to it!

Daily Fix

I'm excited today to learn there is a new Australian accessories label hitting our shelves. Filling the gap where shoes are either fashion forward but un-wearable, or comfortable but lack style, Stillier have launched its premier Classic collection this winter, drawing inspiration from old world glamour and 50s movie stars. The Classic palette features neutral tones including dove greys, nudes and blushes, brightened up by injections of grape, cerise and terracotta. Complimenting these winter hues are a selection of signature I Heart peep toes, quilted pumps and embellished flats. Using carefully hand-picked materials including calf leathers, suedes and exclusive pony skins, each shoe is meticulously finished with extraordinary attention to detail. The colours are simply gorgeous and would make such sweet wedding shoes for you and your maids. Visit www.stillier.com.au to view the collection and find out more about this new and exciting Australian label.

Online Dreaming

Our avid blog readers will be well aware I have a little obsession with an online store called Net-A-Porter. It's not just some little obsession, it's a full blown love affair. I can't get enough of it! The most desireable and beautiful designer pieces are available at the click of a button, which makes life easy if you happen to live in Australia as some of stocked labels are a no-go zone for us, unfortunately. I was even more in love when I realised they have now opened their Wedding Boutique, an online store where you can get everything for the bride, bridesmaids, Mother of the Bride and even the wedding guests! They offer complete styling tips and I can personally guarantee you will fall in love with at least 5 pieces. Short and long dresses, dresses with silk and lace, suits, skirt and tops; everything is here. I could go on about this for hours but I won't. Visit www.net-a-porter.com to browse the complete Wedding Boutique but I must worn you, you will fall in love and you won't want to leave. Also, keep your credit card well away if you're not keen on spending. It would be easy to rack up an astronomical bill!

You can choose from a simply hip range of designers from Lanvin, Marchesa, One Vintage and Yves Saint Laurent to Temperly London, Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti, Fendi, Halston abd the list goes on!

Humming All the Way

There's nothing more gorgeous than a bride sporting a magnificent headpiece. More and more brides are opting for headpieces, with or without veils, as a way to put a stamp of authenticity on their look. Many headpieces can end up looking the same but it's always refreshing to come across designers who see that individuality plays such an important role in the overall style of a wedding.

I came across The Hummingbird Road and thought I had to share their pieces with you. Specialising in one of a kind hair adornments for weddings, special events or everyday wear the pieces are just divine. Based in Melbourne, the label officially began in early 2009 with their goal of introducing a completely fresh interpretation of hair adornments quickly coming to life. The Hummingbird aesthetic is inspired by the delicate, feminine sophistication of the past eras such as the Regancy era, French Bohemianism era, Fin de Siecle era and the glamour of old Hollywood. Designers Sonnya and Elena have created a line that features pieces in irresistible colour palettes with fine and delicate materials, as well as incorporating gorgeous vintage finds. To shop online or to find out more about this up and coming Australian label visit www.thehummingbirdroad.com.

Yummy Mummy

Besides the wedding dress itself the next most important piece of clothing the Mother of the bride/groom will consider will be her own. Mothers have the hard task of dressing for an occasion, especially when many feel they are restricted to what they can and cannot wear. No one likes mutton dressed as lamb! Take a leaf out of my book and opt for a dress that drops to the knee, with or without sleeves. Another thing to consider when choosing your outfit is shoes. Flats are not really appropriate, unless of course a garden or beach wedding is on the cards. With so many labels making fabulous kitten and mid-heeled shoes there really is no excuse. Of course it's of utmost importance to be comfortable so choose wisely and make sure they have been broken in at home prior to the big day. Point number three, and one of the most important points, is to be well aware of the colour scheme of the wedding itself. No one likes a photo with a guest clashing horribly so do consdier the bride and groom when choosing your outfit. A lovely family photo from a wedding will last a lifetime and you don't want to cringe everytime you see it! I've gone over one of my favourite fashion website Net-A-Porter and have chosen a couple of styles that I think would make fabulous choices for a Mother of the bride/groom. They are trendy, knee length, detailed, ruched in all the right places and are pieces you will be able to wear again. Whether you are having something made or buying from a store be sure to make a choice that suits your taste and body shape and most of all makes you feel fabulous. Afterall, a daughter or sons wedding is one of the biggest days of your life!
