Hankey Blankeys

I don't know about you, but I think this is a fantastic idea - a blankey made out of hankerchiefs from Made By Mosey in Melbourne. This would make a wonderful keepsake if you asked all guests to your bridal shower to bring along a hankey as a gift. Of course, you'd need to give everyone a colour palette to ensure everything matched, but it would be a lovely way to remember everyone who shared in that day.

There are countless other beautiful and original items including ever-so-sweet mini bunting at Made by Mosey so do have a look.

One Enchanted Afternoon

If you have a copy of our current issue you would have already seen our issue #14 spring 2010 fashion feature, however if you haven't yet seen it here it is. There's something truly beautiful about black and white photos. I think our photographer Claudio Raschella captured the shoot perfectly. I love every single one of these pictures and I have to say I was estatic to hear that Collette Dinnigan was personally blown away by her gown and how we featured it. Such inspiring feedback! The lovely Chris Geracitano did such a super duper job of hair and makeup. Genius!

Take a Leaf

After making contact with a lost friend, Cath Connell, on the weekend, I was surprised to find out about her amazing new stationery business called Leaf. Cath has used her background in graphic design and paper marketing & sales to put together a great collection of products aimed at helping us record and celebrate our own personal stories.

One of the products, Girl Talk, is well suited to our wedding industry - "Gather the girls together and share your stories of love, life and fabulous shoes". The perfect idea for a fun hen's night.

Each pack of Story Starters comes with prompts to get the conversation flowing - 'The first time…', 'The most romantic…', 'In 10 years time…' - all guaranteed to get a party started.

I am in awe of Cath's achievement and wish her every success with Leaf.

Tea Time
Yesterday I received an invite to a friends high tea hens party which I think is such a great idea. I have noticed that high tea is starting to become more and more popular. Girls who dont want the big night out are prefering to go out for a stylish high tea instead. It's also a great way to include the older family members as part of a kitchen tea. One of my most favourite high tea experiences was when I was in London earlier this year at The Lanesborough. On previous trips to London I had tried high tea at Claridges which was fantastic, but The Lanesborough took high tea to another level. It won best Afternoon Tea in London awarded by the UK Tea Council and was absolutely divine, they even employ a tea sommelier!

High Tea at The Lanesborough

Some great venues for high tea in Australia are:
The Tea Room QVB in Sydney
Aria at The Langham in Melbourne
The Apothecary 1878 in Adelaide
The Hyatt in Perth
The Sofitel in Brisbane

Garden Splendour
I just adore a garden setting, where old fashioned country style blooms work together to create the most sublime effect when teamed with a combination of vintage style patterned linens. I found this gorgeous setting at The Bride's Cafe, and loved it! It is the most beautiful combination of dahlias, sunflowers, berries and peonies.

These photos made me think of the charming gardening bridal shower we styled last year. We had such a fantastic day on location at my sister Amelia's country garden! Here are some of the pics.

Do Me A Favour
One thing we love here at Style Guide are the cutest, most gorgeous favours. They're not the easiest things to get right and often you run the risk of repeating what many brides before you have done. So unoriginal! However, during my daily net surf I came accross the site Products with Personality. Not only do they have bucket loads of the most amazing favours but they also have place cards & holders, favour boxes, eddible favours as well as accessories like fans, cake toppers, decorations and bridal accessories. Not only is their selection and colour range amazing they ship to Australia! There will be no doubt your guests will ohh and ahh after receiving a gorgeous favour from www.pwponline.com. Visit the site to browse the massive collection and learn about shipping costs.

Cath Kidston inspired kitchen tea party
I absolutely love Cath Kidston fabrics and am excited to have found some of her stationery items at Amazon. The recipe organiser and kitchen notes would make great gifts or favours. It would match in really well with our Tea Party story that we featured in Issue 1 of the magazine. You could download our FREE tea bag labels and tea tin labels from our website and buy some matching Cath Kidston napkins from a good newsagent to fit in with the theme. I have also seen at Spotlight a similar strawberry fabric sold that you could use as an inexpensive table cloth or runner.

Goodnight Lovely
There's no denying that I'm, unfortunatley, the kind of girl who needs her 8 hours sleep. With daylight savings unkindly pushing the boundaries I've discovered that my old, ratty eyemask has had to sufice. Not any more! A couple of days ago I came accross Zinke Designs Goodnight Lovely eyemasks. How glam! Made from buttery-soft silk in colours merlot, peacock, orchid, French blue and lavender they would make the most divine pressies for your bridesmaids. I've got mine in the post as we speak! Visit www.zinkedesign.com to have a peek at the eyemasks and the other lovely pieces that are available. They ship to Australia too. Beauty sleep has never been so beautiful!

Not only are the chocolates delicious (I was lucky enough to get sent some) but they are packaged to perfection. I think they would make lovely favours or pressies for your friends and bridesmaids.
